From pioneer as Gösta Halléns Åkeri to bulk and container expert Halléns Transport & Logistics AB

In 1965 Halléns started its operations as Gösta Halléns Åkeri in a rather modest scale, but as a pioneer in the transportation industry: Halléns offered the market a new service, namely trucking of unit loads that came to Swedish ports from European and North American ports in the newly established ro-ro traffic.

In 1968 the business had grown so much that Halléns also had a 4000 square-foot warehouse near the free port in Gothenburg, which also could offer storage services and it was now that Halléns began to approach the petrochemical industry.

In 1976 Halléns moved into newly built premises in Grimbo industrial area on Hisingen where we still are situated today. Simultaneously also an own garage/workshop and wash station was built to serve the constantly growing fleet. This was supplemented in the 1990s by a terminal building and parking.

in 1983 the company was reorganized into Halléns Transport AB and in 1984 Halléns nv in Gent, Belgium was founded, co-owned in a joint venture agreement by Halléns Transport. We invested together in a tilt trailer traffic between the Continent and Scandinavia and this transport service showed a remarkable development. From a handful of tilt trailers at the start to a fleet of over 850 trailers about 20 years later. Offices were opened also in Finland and in France.

In 1995 Halléns Transport gets certified according to ISO 9001 (quality) and in 2002 certified according to ISO 14001 (environment).

In 2005 a new office and terminal in Munkeröd industrial area in Stenungsund is opened. This establishment is mainly done in order to supply the increasing number of customers, especially within the petrochemical industry, in the Stenungsund area.

In 2005 the shipping group DFDS A/S comes in and buys 66 % of the stakes in Halléns NV in Gent and in 2006 the tilt trailer department at Halléns Transport moves over to likewise DFDS-owned company SpeedCargo in Göteborg. Halléns continue its operations but now concentrating on domestic and international bulk and container traffic and surrounding activities.
